14 months & the rewards of motherhood

Today Rachel turns 14 months.
I took leave yesterday to spend the day with her. ( I will be traveling next week on a biz trip…will be away for 3 weeks! So NOT looking fwd to it… my heart aches each time I think of it….. ) anyway, brought Rachel to see the paed yesterday morning. She has been having this small patch of rash on the upper right side of her cheekbone for abt a month already. Sometimes when the weather is hot and she starts to sweat, there is an obvious ring that forms around the patch of rashes. My mom asked me to take Rachel to see the paed to get some cream to apply on it. The paed says it is eczema with slight fungus beneath it. so she gave some cream to apply on it. Rachel was well behaved throughout the whole visit J now we’re praying that the cream will be effective and the rash will go away.

It was such a joy to be able to spend the entire day with her. She’s beginning to learn the alphabets. When I point to the letter A and ask what alphabet is this, she will say “A”. When she sees the wedding photo in our room, she will say “papa”, “mama”…she loves listening to music…we will insist that we sing her songs over and over again......its amazing how fast a child learns things... and she’s such an active girl… for eg. today, she woke up at 8am. Took a 45 minutes morning nap from 11am – 11.45am and then didn’t want to sleep for the rest of the day! My mother in law said she just refused to sleep, just wanted to play and play. So energetic!

Rachel is slowly becoming more and more sticky to me. She will want to follow me when I go out, and if I disappear from her sight for a while she will look for me! It’s a nice to know that she wants me. She will come running to me, asking to be carried, and then why she’s in my arms, she will lay her head against my chest, her hand lightly tapping my chest and say “mama”….and then she will look at me in the eyes and say “mama”…my heart just melts when she does that………and she has just finally learnt how to kiss us on the cheek….when she kissed me on the cheek for the first time, my heart leaped for joy and I was so overwhelmed…motherhood certainly has its rewards! J I’m looking forward to more kisses and hugs from her….

Ok..thats it for now. No time to upload photos yet. Will do that another time.
