bite bite bite

Rachel has a another new habit, i.e biting her pacifier!
She loves to bite, and bite and bite….until ada lubang la!

She destroyed 2 brand new pacifiers within 2 weeks!! we only give her the pacifier when it’s sleeping time. She still needs to suck on the pacifier for comfort just before she sleeps. Once she’s asleep she will spit out the pacifier. During the day, she doesn’t need the pacifier except sometimes for her nap time.
Normally, at night, she needs to drink milk before she sleeps. When she’s really really sleepy, after drinking milk, she will suck the pacifier for 2-3 seconds and then she’s in dreamland already. But there are times when she’s not really that sleepy yet, she will be rolling around in bed and then she’ll start biting her pacifier!

We’re actually trying to wean her off the pacifier. In fact there were a few times, we experimented NOT giving her the pacifier after she finishes her milk, hoping that she will go to sleep without the pacifier. Guess what was her reaction? She cried and cried and cried. Although she was very sleepy and her eyes were closed already, she purposely opened her eyes, sat up and started searching for her pacifier. And when we told her “no more pacifier, spoil already..” she cried! and cried and cried…. we tried to pacify her for a good 10 minutes (yes we let her cry for at least 10 minutes! ) kesian hor? But it didn’t work la.. in the end we gave in la…. no heart to see her cry for so long……the moment we gave her the pacifier she fell asleep straight away!
Sigh. I guess she’s not ready to wean off the pacifier yet.

But if she continues to bite her pacifier, we’ll go “broke” just buying her new pacifiers! 1 week 1 new pacifier is no joke man! :S

So recently we tried another tactic. We bought a new pacifier but a completed different brand and design. The teat of the new pacifier is longer than her usual one. (havent uploaded pictures of her new pacifier) We hope that she’ll dislike it and decide not to use pacifier anymore! hahaha. we introduce the new pacifier to her last night, she gingerly tasted the pacifier and decided that it doesn’t taste nice, and she pushed it away! but because she was extremely sleepy last night, she didn’t kick up a fuss and went to sleep without sucking the pacifier, but instead she just held the pacifier in her hand. Well, that’s a good start. We’ll try it again tonight and see whether it works again. hopefully this will help her wean off the pacifier! :)
