Fever & teething

Wed 10th Sept 3am
Rachel woke up and climb up from her bed onto ours. I touched her and found her forehead and arms were burning hot!! she wanted to sleep in between us, so we let her, but she had difficulty trying to go back to sleep…I was trying to sponge her but she didn’t like it…she kept protesting and pushing away the cloth... after trying for about an hour with her tossing and turning in bed, in the end we gave up and decided to feed her paracetomol instead. I carried her onto my lap and she obediently opened her mouth to let me feed her the paracetomol.
After that, we pat her to sleep and this time, thank God she managed to fall asleep.
At about 7am, when I woke up, her fever has subsided….
Then at 8am, she woke up. I touched her forehead and it was slightly warm…

The whole day, her fever was up and down. My poor baby, she was not her usual self.. went to bed at 8pm, woke up at 10pm asking for milk, then took paracetomol again. went back to sleep at midnight, and slept through till morning.

Thurs 11th Sept
Woke up with very slight fever but much better compared to the previous day. She was ok the whole day, no fever until evening. Yup, fever came back again in the evening, so took paracetomol after dinner. Slept early again and thank God she managed to sleep through the night.

Friday 12 Sept
Woke up with no fever. Praise God! :) no more fever. She has fully recovered from her fever.
We don’t know what was the cause of the fever, but we suspect it could be due to teething.
The first molars are erupting at the same time….and recently she keeps sticking her fingers in her mouth and chewing on them! and also she’s sucking on her pacifier more often than usual. Normally she’ll only suck her pacifier when she goes to sleep. And when she wakes up, she’ll obediently give me her pacifier. But lately even after she wakes up, she doesn’t want to give me her pacifier, she wants to continue sucking. Probably to ease the discomfort of the teething.
So hopefully the fever was just due to the teething....
so far, she has never gotten fever when she's teething. she started teething when she was 5 months old! her lower central incisors was the first teeth to erupt followed by the upper central incisors. then subsequently came the upper & lower lateral incisor. by 12 months old she has 8 fully grown baby teeth! then her upper first molar (one side) started to erupt followed by the other side and now it's both the lower first molars erupting too!! the upper ones have not erupted fully yet la..still halfway la..so can u imagine, 4 teeth all at once...so maybe this time the impact is greater, thus causing the fever? i tak tau la...
Anyway, we're just really thankful that she has fully recovered. praise God! :)
