18 months
Rachel is 18 months old today….yup, that’s 1.5years of Rachel, our darling girl, God’s gift of life to us. She is now 11.4kg and 85cm tall.
Today I brought her to the hospital for her vaccination. It’s the compulsory 1st booster polio jab. This is the last compulsory jab until she turns six. As usual she was excited when we got to the pediatrics clinic coz there was a mini play-area there, with rocking horses, mini slide, etc. She was still ok when we walked into the doc’s room when it was her turn, happily waved and said “hi” to the doc. Then it was time to lie down on the examination table. The moment I carried her and placed her on the table, she started to fuss around…the doc measured her length first…then she started crying coz she knew what was next! Poor thing… yup, she cried even before the needle went in..and cried even louder when the needle went in! and of all times, she chooses to hold her breath while crying (she tends to do that, and I will panic everytime she does that!!) so as usual I panicked, but the doctor said its nothing to worry about. The child usually does it deliberately just to scare the adults. Well, its easy to say not to panic, but when it actually happens, it’s quite impossible not to panic la..especially when u see your child not breathing for a couple of seconds until the face turns purplish-blueish. I really hope rachel will stop doing that coz it really gives me a heart attack everytime she does that! And normally she will do that when she is either in great pain (eg.after a hard fall) or when she is crying in protest!
Anyway, she stopped crying shortly after the jab was over. She was a happy baby again, she kept going to the door wanting to go out to play!!
Wow, so far among all the compulsory jabs that Rachel has taken, this jab is the most expensive of them all. The jab alone cost RM82!
We spent the rest of the day in Rachel’s kong kong & grandma’s house. She loves to be at kong kong’s house coz there’s so many things to play with..eg. the piano, a slide (made from lots of cushions! Haha..), she loves to climb up and down the stairs, go outside to the garden to pluck starfruit, pull out the grass, sweep the leaves, etc… unfortunately I didn’t have a camera with me so couldn’t take any photos.
Rachel also has a new favourite cartoon to watch, i.e Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! Now everyday she will ask for “mouse, mouse”! haha…..she still loves Barney though… J
She’s able to identify a few alphabets now, eg. A, B, E, G, K, N, P, R, S, X, Z.
New words : mouse, clean, wet, hand, spoon, orange, kiwi, girl, (cant recall anymore at the moment)
Time certainly flies! 1.5 years flew by just like that! Amazing to see how much she has grown… indeed, wonderfully made by God! :)
