Family Christmas Vacation + Air Asia
we're back from a family Christmas vacation in Singapore. Just got back last night. It was actually my very first Christmas away from Penang.... the trip was fun and of course tiring at the same time. Rachel as usual enjoyed herself thoroughly throughout the whole trip! every night she only went to bed past 12 midnight (except for 1 night where she konked off early coz she was too exhausted). She was so super active...1 little kid could tire out 7 adults!! it's amazing just seeing how much energy a 20-month old "baby" can have.
everything about the trip was fanstatic except for the flights! we flew on Air Asia...and boy, what an experience we had!! We flew Pg -> KL -> Sg (mind you, it's not connecting flights. which means u have to get off the plane, collect your bags, head to the check in counter and check in for the next flight). We almost missed our flight to Sg!! Firstly, our plane from Pg -> KL got delayed by 30 minutes, so we landed 30 minutes later. Then the luggages took ages to arrive, by the time we got to the check-in area, the check-in counter was closed already! so we had to go to the service counter. thank God the flight to Sg was also delayed so they allowed us to check in. all of us were like rushing all over LCC Terminal like a bunch of crazy ppl. Thank God Rachel didnt put up much fuss if not it would have been worse! That was really crazy.
Then on our journey back from Sg, everything was smooth going from Sg -> KL. Then the nightmare began at LCCT. While waiting for our baggages which took more than 30 minutes to arrive, we heard the announcement that our flight from KL -> Pg has been delayed for 3 hours!! i was in disbelief when i heard it. after getting our bags, we went to the check-in area, and true enough it was delayed to 10.30pm!! we asked the person-in-charge and the guy told us there is no other earlier flight and it is the only flight to Pg. so no choice lor..so frustrating man... and the queue at the check in counter was so extremely long! after queueing for almost 1 hour, then only it came to our turn to check-in. by then rachel was extremely cranky already. all of us were also pretty frustrated by then. Air Asia should have given us some kind of SMS notification to inform us of the delay. So terrible. And then instead of flying off at 10.30pm there was a further delay and by the time we flew off, it was almost 11pm already! this is by far the worst flight experience that we've had. so NO MORE flights on Air Asia!! or at least NO MORE connecting flights on Air Asia! I'd rather pay that extra and fly direct on other airlines than to go through all that craziness of rushing and waiting! It's definitely NOT a good idea to fly Air Asia if you're flying with kids. its just not worth it.
anyway, enough of all the rantings about the bad flight experience. Will update the blog with pictures and happy details of the trip in another post! Stay tune!
