21 months
Rachel turned 21 months old yesterday (20th Jan 2009).
OK, let’s see, in terms of her speech, her vocabulary of words increases by the day…she’s like a parrot now, loves to repeat after us..for example, yesterday I let her try out the cloth diapers that I recently purchased from an online store (http://www.lildanzell.com/). Here’s the conversation:
Mama : rachel, please come here and wear your diapers (she just pee-ed and was running around the house not wearing any diapers)
*rachel ignores mama and runs into the room*
Mama : girl, please come here….
Rachel : girl….. *then ignores mama again and continue running around the house*
Mama: MISS, please come here….
Rachel : Miss!
Mama : yes, Miss, please come here…
Rachel : Miss! *And gives me a cheeky grin…but still refusing to come to me…*
*Finally mama catches hold of Rachel and puts on the diaper for her. She was quite fascinated with the cloth diaper coz it is made from a velvety-kind of material, so it was furry, soft and nice to touch…and it was of a light green shade..
Mama : is it nice?
Rachel : nice? Nice?
Couldn’t resist laughing…. She’s so cute… she can be so cheeky and cute at the same time…..
We’re trying to teach her how to speak in short sentences…but I think that will take some time…. But she’s definitely learning fast….
During meal times, before we partake of the food, we’ll tell her “rachel, say grace..” she’ll immediately clasp her hands together and close her eyes….now we’re teaching her to repeat after us word by word when we say grace…. And if she catches us not fully closing our eyes, she’ll say “mama, eyes…” ! hahahaha…..
She can now recognize the alphabets from A – Z. Yup, every single one….. so proud of her! :)
Her current favorite word is “don’t want”. Everytime we ask her something that would require a “yes or no” answer or “want or don’t want” answer, the first thing that will come out from her mouth is “don’t want”!
Just realized that I haven’t updated the words that she can speak so far… here are some:
Fall down, itchy (while scratching her legs/hands), penguin, tiger, bear, giraffe, zebra, eagle, crocodile, elephant, grapes, mickey mouse, goofy, daisy, duck (referring to Donald duck), brush (referring to tooth brush), stick, sticker, smile, soup, noodles, pasta, ta-toe (referring to potato), vege/vege-bles (vegetables), where where? (with palm pointing upwards), is that? (meaning what is that?), where’s rachel? (when she plays pee-ka-boo with her own reflection in the mirror), etc. of course there are many more on the list, but those are the latest addition… :)
Oh! She’s certainly has grown so much. There are just too many things to update all into the blog! Hehe… anyway, we’re thankful for how much she has grown. She’ll be turning 2 years old in 3 months time. Got to start thinking how to celebrate! :) praise God for whom all blessings flow.
