This is now our 3rd attempt to get Rachel to sleep without pacifier. It's been a long day for us and after coming back from CG, it was time for milk. As usual after finishing her bottle of milk she asked for her 'chit chit' and we said no to her. Just like the last 2 nights she refused to sleep and started climbing all over the place. For the past 2 nights we put up with almost 1 hour of that till she fell asleep out of tiredness. Slept without her pacifier of course. We hoped to keep this up till she is fully weaned off the pacifier.
I've got a bad headache since before dinner and I thought I'd just lay down with my eyes shut and ignore Rachel's clambering around the room trying to sleep without her pacifier. Wee Lyn was the one chasing her around with her bolsters and trying to pat her to sleep. While I was resting and trying to nurse my headache away,... all of a sudden CRASH!! Like a tonne of bricks fell on my right eye! I could even hear my glasses cracking under the pressure. It was Rachel's head, apparently she was sitting next to me when she suddenly leaned backward, free falling onto my face! ouch.... my glasses weren't plastic, they were glass! there were tiny splinters of glass all over the pillow, the mattress and my face....

Thank God nothing happened to Rachel, ... she's got a head made of steel. She just looked stunned at what happened, looking at us as Wee Lyn tried to check to see if any of the glass splinters fell into my eye. At the same time trying to think of the best way to remove the glass bits off the bedsheet and pillow. The best way is to change it. While Rachel is alright after a minute or two, she rushed out the door the moment we opened it and went straight for her slide. The papa ended up with a sore eyelid and some swelling around the eye. There were some glass bits trapped on my eyelashes, which Wee Lyn had to remove for me carefully. Tomorrow at church I'm going to look like someone punched me in my right eye.
Looks like I'll have to wear back my old pair of glasses while waiting to send my broken glasses to the optician to see if the frame can still be used and fitted with a replacement lens. I would also have to consider making plastic lenses instead of glass,... glass is way clearer but I suppose I've got to go for plastic for a while now before more of such "accidents" happen.
