Singapore - Day 2 (24th Dec 2008)
We had buffet breakfast in YMCA (it’s part of the package). The food was pretty good and quite a generous spread. They had the usual eggs, ham, sausages, bread, pastries, pancakes, cereal, juice, salad, fried noodles, porridge and also tim sum! The fried noodles & tim sum was my favourite…it was really good.
Well, it was a rainy day! :) we had planned to go visit the Singapore Zoo today. Unfortunately because of the rain we had to scrap that plan.
So Shane’s sister-in-law suggested that we head to VivoCity at Harbour to jalan-jalan. Coz there is an underground walkway from the MRT station to the mall itself, so we wont get caught under the rain. So off to VivoCity we went.
Thank God it wasn’t raining heavily when we had to walk from YMCA to the Dhoby Ghaut MRT station and thank God it was only a 4 minute walk. The MRT ride took about 15 minutes. Met Win & Shane at VivoCity. We walked around a bit and then decided to head for lunch since it was already past 12pm.
Went to Food Republic for lunch. It’s a food court that sells hawker food, according to a friend, the hawkers there are supposed to be one of the best hawkers in Sg. There were so many stalls there, so many different type of food…deciding what to eat took quite a while. And the whole place was packed with people! It took a few rounds of walking around the food court before we could decide what to eat! Haha…spoilt for choices.
After lunch, it was still drizzling…so in the end we totally scrapped the idea of going to the zoo. Instead, we spent the time walking around the huge shopping mall. Rachel decided to do her big business into her pampers without letting us know! I was trying so hard to make her poo poo into the toilet bowl this morning before we left the hotel, but she refused. Instead she decided to make a big mess in her pampers. so mah fan. Thank God they had pretty clean baby-changing rooms in the mall.
After we got tired of all the walking, we decided to head back to YMCA. Rachel took a short nap in the MRT. We grabbed a quick dinner at the mall opposite YMCA. Rachel knocked off pretty early. She fell asleep after dinner and didn’t even wake up when we got back to the hotel… totally knocked off already....slept through till the next morning! Hahaha….
On the way back to the hotel, we walked pass the Presbyterian church and saw that they were preparing to have their Candlelight Service in the garden. Since the night was still young and it was Christmas Eve after all, my sister & my parents decided to take a stroll down Orchard Road to checkout the Christmas decorations and celebrations that were about to take place… darling & I stayed back at the hotel to keep watch over rachel who was already asleep by then.
goofing ard with grandma's sunglasses! how do i look? cool eh? hehe...
