23 months

Rachel is 23 months old today. yup…1 more month before she turns 2years old :)

Cant update on her weight and height as we haven’t weighed her in these recent months. As for her height, well, we did try to measure her height by making ‘marks’ on the wall, but those are not that accurate coz most of the time she doesn’t stand straight against the wall! Haha… but I think she has grown taller by a couple of centimeters….she’s probably around 87-88cm now… pretty tall for a 2-year old, eh…..
Teeth – no signs of her last 4 molars yet. So the count is still at 16.
Hair – slightly pass shoulder length. Long enough to tie. And she looks really cute and pretty when she has her tied up in a ponytail, but the thing is she doesn’t like her hair to be tied up!

Vocabulary – definitely expanding….she’s now communicating with 2 words more often or sometimes more compared to just single words. Eg. when putting her to sleep, she will say “mama come, lie down” while patting the space next to her (asking me to lie down beside her). When drinking water, she will say “mama drink”, “rachel drink”.
She will say “kong kong’s house” (hey that’s 3 words! Hehe..) when she wants to go out… either that or she’ll say “mama’s house” (yeah she still calls her ah mah, grandma and mama “mama”!!) sigh. Have been trying to teach her to call them “ah mah” and “grandma” but she still prefers to call them ‘mama’ coz she’s so used to it. She definitely can pronounce ‘ah mah’ and ‘grandma’ though.
During mealtimes, she will remind everyone to say grace by saying “papa, pray” or sometimes she’ll just say “pray”. We’re also teaching her how to say her own grace…I’ll ask her to repeat after me when saying grace.

As for her eating habits, nowadays she mostly eats rice with dishes instead of porridge. Normally it’s rice, 1 fish, 1 vege & 1 soup. Sometimes instead of cooking rice for her, my mother in law will cut potatoes into small chunks and lightly grill them. Ohh..she loves the grilled potatoes! The potatoes replace the rice, and she’ll still have fish, vege and soup. Sometimes she’ll cook noodles instead of rice. Of coz she also eats whatever we eat! She’s tasted spicy food before…we let her try coz she keeps on bugging us to let her try!! Haha….she doesn’t really like it! So now when she sees us eating something that looks “red”, she will say “luak luak’ (meaning spicy in hokkien) or she’ll say “chilli..spicy”! i'm glad she's not a fussy eater.. :)

Loves to dance and sing…she has an electronic toy piano that plays familiar tunes (different keys will play different tune), so when she presses the key that plays the “abc song” tune, she’ll start singing the abc song or twinkle twinkle little star (same tune ma)…. We managed to capture it on video but its quite lengthy so got to shorten it first before uploading it here.
She can sing and do the action to the song “God is so good” ..... and many many more songs!

Oh and she loves the colour pencils! She doesn’t know how to colour properly yet, but she loves to ‘conteng’ with the colour pencils! Now she can identify colours really well…. Purple, red, blue, green, yellow, brown, orange.

Potty/toilet training – still in progress...now most of the time she’ll tell, but sometimes she'll still forget...probably need to slowly not let her wear pampers anymore...

Bath time – she still dislike washing her hair because she doesn’t like the water trickling down her face! Recently I’ve stopped washing her hair with her lying down on my lap (she’s ok with this position coz the water wont trickle down her face)…but I cant continue in that position anymore due to my very pregnant stomach! Haha… so instead I let her sit down in her tub and then use the shower to wash her hair! This is the part that she doesn’t like. The moment the shower touches her hair, she’ll stand up and scream in protest!! so I have to try and coax her to sit down and let me wash her hair....she’ll continue to make a lot of noise in protest, but no choice lar, still have to wash rite? So everytime the water trickles down her face, I have to quickly wipe it away… I think with the amount of noise she makes, the whole entire neighbourhood will know that it’s her bath time! Hahahaha. Hopefully this ‘struggle’ will be over soon!!
thats all for now.....

You know what? I think alot of toddlers have this bathing problem...there's this headband thingy they can wear (plastic) around the circumference of the head...so the water won't trickle down the face...try ask around and see if ppl got sell these gadgets in Malaysia...
